Holiday Gratitude by Deb Glasser, MS, RD
December 3, 2019

Winter holidays are here and it’s cold out (53 to be exact!). Over a bowl of delicious homemade minestrone soup that was just whipped up in our kitchen by Chef Allen, I sat and compiled the “What are you thankful for?” emails and post it notes that I distributed to the SNP team over the last few weeks.

There is overwhelming gratitude for health, well-being, and family. Of course, this is paramount for most of us.

“I am grateful for my health…it is a priceless gift and one that keeps on giving.”

“I am thankful for my family and grateful for the possibility of expanding it in the future.”

I am also proud to report the number of responses that reference professional satisfaction.

“I am thankful for the opportunity to meet and work with so many great people. I learn something new every day.”

“I am grateful for the cooks, drivers and servers at SNP who make serving healthy meals possible each day.”

“I am thankful for working with kids and food! Every day I get to smile from the silliness of the kids and I get to taste the creations from our kitchens.”

The environment at the SNP kitchens and offices, created by a dedicated team who show up, day in and day out, with compassion, a smile, and unparalleled tenacity to take on the day’s tasks is extraordinary. And I for one, fully believe that flavor comes through in our food. We wish all of our students, their families, and our school communities a very happy, healthy and delicious holiday season.
